Nick Lachey On Being A Dad: “It Changes Everything In Your Life”Posted: June 7, 2013
Nick Lachey may have reunited with 98 Degrees, but one thing is very different about touring now compared to back in the day: he’s a first-time dad! With being a parent to son Camden along with wife Vanessa Minnillo, the 39-year-old singer is going through quite the transition. But though scheduling may be hectic, he wouldn’t have it any other way.
“It changes everything in your life. The way you think about things, your perspective on things, the way you schedule things,” he tells me of being a new dad. “Then I get off stage late and we have a record signing till midnight and you come home and unwind, you get in bed at 2:00. When he gets up at 7:30, he doesn’t care what you’ve done the night before. He’s ready to eat.”
Adding, “So everything kind of gets shifted and you have to learn to manage your time and balance schedule a little better than maybe we did in 2001 on our last tour. But it’s an awesome experience to be out here on the road with my family and to be able to still have him be a part of my life and me be a part of my life. He’s changing so much on a daily basis. I can’t imagine not being there to see all that. So it’s pretty cool having him out here with me.”
Lachey and the band recently performed on the Today Show along with New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men.
